Turkey or Chicken Soup from carcass
How much does it cost to make a bowl of soup?
Don’t throw out that leftover turkey carcass make soup.
Ingredients
2-3 Quarts of water
Turkey carcass or whole chicken
3 Stalks of Celery
3 large carrots
1 onion
½ to ¾ cup of uncooked noodles
2-3 cups of diced meat
2 Tsp. Season Salt
1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp. Paprika
1/8 Tsp. Black Pepper
1 Tbsp. Parsley
3 Bay Leaves
Instructions
Break up carcass and add carcass to a pot with water.
Bring pot to a boil then simmer for at least one hour.
Remove carcass and set aside then strain the stock.
While stock is cooling remove all the meat from carcass. Depending
on how you sliced your turkey there will be at least 2 cups of meat left.
After stock is cooled down refrigerate. Fat will float to the top.
I usually refrigerate over night. The next day skim off the fat.
Dice the onion and celery and cut up the carrots in large pieces.
Add vegetables to stock then heat to a boil then simmer until carrots
are tender. Remove carrots then dice.
(Carrots are easier to dice after they are cooked)
Now add all spices diced meat, vegetables and noodles. Heat again to a boil then simmer. Noodles will expand taste then if desired add more water
or salt.
So how much does it cost to make a bowl of soup not very much.
Although It is a lot of work !
