Originally opened as the “The Casino” in 1976 then renamed Bingo Palace in 1977. It was remodeled in 1984 and became Palace Station with a railroad theme. Pictures of old trains and the iconic sign towered in the front. The Palace Station is famous for the robbery of O.J. Simpson memorabilia in 2007. I first stayed at The Palace Station in the late 80’s. It was always and still is a great place to stay off the strip. In 2018 they sadly changed the railroad theme to a modern one and removed the giant Palace Station sign. I was there when the crane was taking the sign down April 2018.
Palace has added more restaurants, a new pool, more bars , movie theaters and completely remodeled the Casino and sports book. Palace has nice rooms free parking and a shuttle to the strip. The address is 2411 W. Sahara Ave. just West of Interstate 15.
The best all-around Las Vegas Casino off the strip in my opinion
would be Orleans at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. The Orleans has it all
Movie Theaters, Hugh Bowling Alley, Large Arena, Showroom,
Free Live Music on weekends, Large Sports Book, Food Court, Café,
Asian Kitchen, Oyster Bar, Buffet, T.G.I. Fridays with 2 Happy Hours,
Irish Pub and a nice pool. Along with its sister Casino the Gold Coast
has a gift shop which sells beer wine etc. at reasonable prices.
You can get a discount at Advantage Rent A Car with your B Connected
players card and the higher the card level the higher the discount.
Orleans is part of Boyd Casinos a few of the bigger ones in Las Vegas are
Gold Coast, Sam’s Town and Fremont. Boyd owns many more Casino’s in the US including The Blue Chip which is close to Chicago.
Finally both casino’s have better slot ,video poker and video keno odds compared with the strip casinos. They also have nice rooms with free parking and a shuttle to the strip. Also you don’t have to walk a mile from your hotel room to the casino like you do on the strip.
